Animation and Story

Animation, animatics and storyboards for various projects, including University work, an unreleased project for Bellular Studios, Game Grumps and Hourly Comic Day 2022

2017 graduation reel from my animation degree at Ulster University, featuring 3D and 2D animation, baby’s first rigging, and storyboarding (GIFs above are from my final year film (Zara’s Story), and my first project with Bellular Studios (Stanberry’s Mistake), respectively)

Animatic, storyboards, and below some concept art and 3D scene tests for Zara’s Story, the final year animated documentary from university I co- and art-directed (winner of Best Student Animation at the Northern Irish Short Film Awards 2018).

The VoiceOver is by my grandmother, Attracta Campbell, from a candid interview she did with Ryan and I. The goal of the film was to show the impact of a pet on someone’s life in a simple, understated way. The team members were Ryan Hollinger, Tyrone Owens, Katie Noble, Nadine McLaughlin and Aimee KP; the animatic is edited by Ryan Hollinger, the latter half drawn by Tyrone Owens. The final render of the film can be viewed here.

Slideshow of various Spine (Esoteric Software) rigs and animations for the 2018 How To Kill Monsters demo, for CoffeeBox Games during Tranzfuser. The rigs have extra bones in places because the intention was for them to be reusable between different mechs and kaiju, even if we changed anatomy – in theory, the majority of the skeleton could keep the same keyframes, and we’d only have to make small adjustments on controllers lower in the hierarchy if they went off the rails. For the animation below, there was a bone in the axe that could override the monster’s head IK and stick it to the blade.
